Markloom is a local-first macOS document tool. It does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking SDKs.
Document processing
Documents you open, including Markdown files and PDFs, are processed on your Mac. PDF text extraction uses PDFKit and optical character recognition uses Apple Vision. Markloom does not upload document content, filenames, file paths, extracted text, or OCR results to us or to a third-party service.
Information stored on your Mac
Markloom stores a small set of aggregate counters in the app's local preferences, such as documents opened and exports completed. It also stores security-scoped bookmarks for folders you explicitly open so that recent folders can be reopened with macOS permission. These bookmarks refer to locations on your Mac and are not uploaded. Markloom does not create a device or installation identifier.
Usage counters never leave your Mac automatically. You can inspect, reset, or export them from Settings. If you choose to send an exported summary through email, an issue tracker, or another service, that service may associate the file with your account.
Network access and tracking
Markloom has no network entitlement and does not contact our servers. We do not operate a Markloom analytics backend. Markloom does not track you across apps or websites and does not sell personal information.
The Privacy Policy link in Settings opens this public web page in your default browser. Opening that page is separate from Markloom's document-processing functions and is subject to the hosting provider's privacy practices.
Files and deletion
Markloom reads and writes only files and folders you select through macOS. Your documents remain under your control. You can delete exported files and .markloom project packages in Finder. You can reset all local usage counters in Markloom Settings. Recent-folder bookmarks are removed with the app's container. Removing the app and its container removes its local preferences and bookmarks, subject to macOS and backup behavior.
Children
Markloom is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. Because Markloom does not collect personal data, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. A change that introduces off-device data collection would also require an app update and corresponding App Store privacy disclosure.
Contact and support
For support, use the Zero Ordinal support page or email zeroordinal@gmail.com. Include the app version and macOS version. Do not send confidential document content. You may optionally attach the local usage summary after reviewing it.
